I recently asked my friend, downline, and amazing stamper Jana to do a monthly feature for my blog, and she agreed! Here is her first article. Oh, and be sure to visit her blog while you’re at it.
I was so excited when Rachel asked me to do a monthly feature for her blog. I mean, she is the whole reason I started stamping in the first place. I had known Rachel for about 5 years or so and met because her husband and my husband had gone to Cal together (go Bears!) and we saw each other usually about 2 or 3 times per year. One year, she and her husband were coming up for a Cal basketball game, and she asked if I would host a Stampin’ Up! Workshop. To myself I thought, “I am not a home party person…and I don’t have any crafty friends!” but…I did it anyway to help her out. Well…that was when my addiction began! My party was the biggest she’d ever had…and we kept her coming back every 3 to 6 months for more! Eventually, she convinced me to sign up as a demonstrator as well, and the rest is history.
This card I designed for Rachel grew out of a few different cards I’ve been making lately. I just LOVE the faux diamond technique because it adds so much glimmer and shine to your projects, and it is very forgiving. When making this card I decided I might as well make several at once, so I actually brayered, stamped, and then embossed an entire sheet of whisper white cardstock. When brayering, you don’t have to worry if the color isn’t entirely even, because once you emboss it, it’s very hard to see any streaks that might exist.
The other cool thing about this card is it uses all the supplies that are part of this month’s Spring Fever promotion! I’ve used the Petals jumbo wheel to wheel the pattern on the Tempting Turquoise strip. Then I used the new Petals & Paisleys Designer Paper (it is just too die for paper!!!) for an added strip of color. Lastly, all the stamped images are from the Polka Dots & Paisley stamp set that all demonstrators received for FREE this year around the holidays.
And lastly, it's a tall card. It actually measures 8.5" by 4" and will fit in a regular business size envelope. I've been making these a lot lately because I like having a little more space to fill, without being constrained in a square.
I hope you all have enjoyed this, and I'll have more fun stuff for you next month. Thanks again Rach for asking me to do this!! :-)
